Gordon Trafton
Board Chair
Gordon spent 33 years in the rail industry holding a number of senior roles primarily in operations. He has served as a board director at Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd., since 2017 and chairs the Risk and Sustainability Committee while also serving on the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee. In addition, since his retirement Gordon has served on a number of non-profit education boards.
Gordon received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Transportation and Traffic Management from the University of Colorado Boulder. He maintains close ties to his alma mater, having served as chair of the Leeds School of Business Advisory Board where he continues to serve as a board member today. The Trafton family was the lead donor in the establishment of the Leeds Mentoring program which today matches over 1,250 mentors with more than 2,000 mentees through four tailored mentoring programs. Gordon continues to personally mentor and coach graduate and undergraduate students.
Chi Nguyen
Director
Chi is the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at EmployBridge Holding Company. She also leads the enterprise transformation and merger and acquisition integration management offices on behalf of the CEO and Board of Directors. Chi spent twelve years at Brand Energy & Infrastructure Services and ten years at General Electric in various planning, analysis and financial roles.
Chi graduated from the University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Marketing. She is also a graduate of GE’s Financial Management Program, GE’s Experienced Finance Leadership Program, and is a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
Manon Abud
Director
Manon is the Senior Director, Enterprise Strategy with the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) where she leads the development of the Strategic Plan and is responsible for operationalizing it. She supports the CMA Board Chair in all matters relating to strategic planning. Prior to joining the CMA Manon held roles as Vice President and Group Leader of Communication and Engagement at Hill + Knowlton Strategies and as a Managing Partner at Ascentum inc. She has held Marketing and Competitive Research roles in the Ottawa high technology sector and worked on Parliament Hill in the House of Commons as a Legislative Assistant.
Manon holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree in organizational and interpersonal communication from the University of Ottawa. She is trilingual (French, English and Spanish) and is a former adjunct Professor at the Telfer School of Business teaching Strategic Case Analysis.
Mike Daley
Director
Mike Daley has 38 years of Leadership experience in the energy sector where he held executive portfolios in Production, Maintenance, Turnarounds, Safety, Security, Health, Environment and Regulatory Affairs. As the leader of Syncrude’s Turnarounds, Major Capital Projects and Non-Process Facilities Maintenance Infrastructure departments, Mike was responsible for leading 3,500 employees and managed a budget of $450 million per annum.
Mike holds a Certificate in Construction Administration from the University of Alberta and he completed the Production Operations Management executive program University of Western Ontario. Mike has a thorough understanding of, and close respectful ties to, both the Alberta Aboriginal Community and to the Alberta Trade Unions.
In addition to his SCCi Advisory Board role, Mike is the Vice President of Business Development for the company, a delivery consultant, and a member of the SCCi Executive Team.
